Banana Bread (Nut-Free, No Refined Sugar)
I kinda hate to admit this, but I am really ready to send the kids back to school. We’ve had a great summer – lots of travel, fun experiences, decent weather and a whole lot of family time. Like, maybe too much family time.
My kids have a typical brother-sister relationship. Sometimes, they can play together for hours and other times, they fight like animals in the wild defending their territory.
After two months of “togetherness,” I’m afraid they have been reduced to vicious, selfish little versions of themselves. As early as breakfast, they are calling each other names. They argue over such insignificant things – whose pajamas are cooler, whose bedroom the cat spent more time in, who is a better reader (I should hope it’s the older one…). They fight at the table, in the car, at the pool, when friends are over, when the sun rises and when it sets. It feels constant.
I realize this is a summertime reality for many families and I stand in solidarity with you. When the kids go back to school in two weeks, five days and a few hours, the silence that will hopefully envelop our house will be a welcome change to what has felt like chaos.
This month, I am preparing breakfast treats, snacks and lunch ideas that are school-safe (meaning nut-free). And what a better way to kick off the series than with banana bread?!? These recipes are meant to reduce the stress in your life when it comes to weekday breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Usually, I make these recipes in bulk for the week, so I don’t have to think about what to prepare each day.
The best way to retain these recipes is to follow Bake For Your Life on Pinterest. I have a board for snacks (my recipes and others).
I wish you a happy start of school. May it be peaceful. And quiet.
