Scone MixLemon Blueberry Whole Grain Scones

Lemon Blueberry is a classic scone flavor.  You can serve these alongside finger sandwiches and petit fours for a traditional British tea party.  Or just eat them for breakfast.  Or with an afternoon cup of tea.

Lemon Blueberry Whole Grain Scones

Total Time 24 minutes

Servings 8 Scones


  • ¼
    butter or oil
    melted and cooled
  • 2/3
    vanilla yogurt
    dairy or non-dairy
  • 1
    bag Whole Grain Scone Mix
  • ½
    fresh blueberries
  • 2
    freshly grated lemon zest


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees (F).
  2. Grease a scone pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the oil and yogurt until combined.
  4. Stir in Whole Grain Scone mix until incorporated. Use your hands to gently knead the dough, if needed.
  5. Fold in the blueberries and lemon zest until evenly incorporated.
  6. Spoon batter into prepared scone pan or shape with your hands and place on baking sheet.
  7. Bake 12-14 minutes or until the scones spring back when lightly pressed.
  8. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan about 15 minutes.
  9. Store baked scones in a sealed container at room temperature for up to two days, then transfer to the fridge for up to four more days.

Recipe Notes

When we tested this recipe with frozen berries, it made the batter too wet, resulting in a gummy scone. If fresh berries aren’t available, we suggest letting frozen blueberries thaw first, then patting them dry before using them in this recipe.
